Teamwork

By: Dr. Dave Henry, Executive Director

The center of the mission for Trash Mountain Project is hope. That may seem vague, however, hope is necessary for humanity. Our mission statement is “Trash Mountain Project exists to create Christ-centered environments for children and families living in trash dump communities worldwide.” So, where is the hope?

Hope is the end state of our mission. We want to give people the opportunity to move from despair toward hope. As Christians, the best way we know how to do that is to help create communities where the message of Jesus, the love of Jesus, and the actions of Jesus are the center. We believe that people are moving either toward Christ or remaining distant from him. In moving toward Christ, people move toward hope.

Make no mistake. Hope should not be reduced to a single idea but is a multi-layered reality. Hope involves the love and forgiveness of God through Jesus. Hope results in a state of being and a way of life. Hope is experienced in a life changed by the people of God. Christians are also called to be the people of God in such a way as to bring hope to others. This is the reason why hope is the end state of our mission as Trash Mountain Project.
